artist’s book - Volume 1, 2015-2020

Interactive book in progress

Between a unique print of an art object planned for January 2020 and an interactive digital book

In resonance with a seminar titled “Thinking / Creating in affinities”, organized by Yann Toma and François Noudelmann from January to May 2019 at the Sorbonne in Paris, I am designing volume 1 of an artist’s book that questions my creative process, which is most of the time collective, participatory, involving collaborators or relatives, and has been so for four years.

This book raises many questions around the transfer of copyrights, images, voices, sounds, distribution in public or private spaces and reproduction or exhibition. How can we, through our affinities, “appropriate someone else” to change his thinking but also his practice by establishing their status as an artist between the formal and the informal ? How far can an affinity, a relationship or a friendship lead? How can our affinities, collaborations and exchanges be connected while preserving material traces and archiving them ?

This interactive book results from a process of organization and participation including protocols, flipping / scanning, hijacking, archive classifications, sending e-mails or letters by post and renderings of official documents and videos that can be watched thanks to a QR Code. Archival documents thus connect my affinities to form an artist’s book that requires their participation, testimonials and attestations.
