HD video, 3’43’’, composition from four sound recordings of ice tremors intercepted at station IU.SFJD, Greenland

There are as many earthquakes as so-called glacial earthquakes. Contemplating the convulsive movements of ice sheets on the surface of the water, we can seize the time of this video, some pulsations that agitate our planet. Will the warming of the Greenland ice cap lead us to a final break point ?

This work was displayed as part of an exhibition entitled “Art in the seismic state” which took place at the Palais Universitaire de Strasbourg from 08.05 to 19.05.2017. It originated from a workshop led by the Faculté des Arts of Strasbourg and Strasbourg’s Ecole et Observatoire des Sciences de la Terre [geological school and observatory].
